Lang, Louis

"A painter known for holiday genre scenes, portraits, miniatures, and history subjects, Louis Lang was born in Wurttemberg, Germany. He studied in Stuttgart and Paris in 1834, and came to America in 1838, living in Philadelphia where he exhibited at the Pennsylvania Academy.

In the 1840s, he traveled to Italy and then settled in New York City.
